Am I playing sharps or flats?

In musical terminology, every flat note also has a corresponding "sharp" name. For example, the note C# (pronounced C-sharp) can also be called Db (D-flat). Similarly, Bb can be called A#, D# can be called Eb, and so on.

Think of it this way - The note C# is produced by "sharpening" the note C by a semitone. C# can also be created by "flattening" the note D by a semitone. So, C# and Db are different names for the same note!
